anyone got a 450 and a 400ex? can you get the height and measurements off of the 400ex motor and see how it would fit in the 450r frame?
i got a chance to pick up a 450r roller and i know where i can get a good 400ex engine for dirt cheap. trying to decide if its worth doing.
Usually its the opposite, they swap in the R motor into the EX frame. Its been done before that way (R into EX frame) so I dont see why it wouldnt fit the R frame. Custom motor mounts and exhaust will be needed of course.

i can make front mounts and stuff as long as the swinger bolt goes through and the sprockets aren't miles off. plus i would be loosing the radiator. i know it would not be the fastest quad but i think it would be a nice easy to ride trail quad.

It would certainly.be light/nimble. Probably around 60-75 pounds less than a 400.
Might have an extremely.choppy ride cutting that much weight and not modding the suspensio.

You can mount a 450 swingarm into a 400ex frame and 400ex engine using 400ex spacers so I would think the 400ex motor would fit into the 450r frame just fine. There aren't any chain alignment issues with the 450r swingarm and carrier in the 400ex frame so I don't think you should run into alignment problems putting the 400ex motor into the 450r frame.

I'm betting the frames are extremely close around the motor area. Nerf bars interchange..Swingarm bolt is the same.
