Used to post here all the time, haven't been on here in a long time.
The 450 has been sitting for a almost a year, so decided to get it back on the trail. To my surprise, with a little convincing, it fired right up. Didn't even need a battery charging or anything else. Unfortunately, I've encountered some issues...

First off, I've encountered some throttle spuddering.
If I punch the throttle, the bike instantly spudders and stalls most of the time.
Now, obviously carb'd YFZs are notorious for a form of this issue, but, this is slightly worse than the usually issue.

I have disassembled the bike and removed the carb.
My initial intention was to try the zip-tie mod.
However, I had originally installed a 400ex throttle (100x easier and better throttle by the way) and that seems to have already fixed most of what the zip-tie mod corrects (I hardly noticed any slack between the cable and the accelerator pump.)

Therefore, I figured the issue is likely elsewhere in the carb. I'm a little nervous to start ripping it apart.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the issue?

I've heard clogged pilot jet. Haven't dug far enough in to the carb to check, but wanted some more feedback if anyone else knows or has anything else I should check.

Thanks!

Still would like some feedback, but upon further research, the zip-tie mod seems to resolve most of the issues. I guess I will clean the carb and perform the zip-tie mod.

If anyone else has anything else I should try, please let me know!

I would suggest cleaning the carb first thing first.

And being that it sat for a year did you change the fuel?

Clean the tank out?

For sitting that long the fuel is bad no doubt.

Take your jets out and blow them out and blow up through the carb where your jets sit to blow anything (that might be in there) out.

Let us know what you determine after that.

Thanks,
