Reverse issues.

im havin some trouble here guys. so i took my front plastic off a month ago and had to take the reverse switch out of the plastics. i get it back together and notice the switch turns the other way and reverse wont engage? im like whatever ill pretend im riding an 04 now haha now it comes time where i have enough free time besides riding where i wanna fix it. when you take the brass plate off the bsck of the switch you can push the reverse lever down and the white end pops out the end and itll turn fine the right way. then you put that plate back on and the switch pops back up and turns the wrong way. again. id assume your not suppose to have that plate half in and the white thing half out. help me out here guys

Pull the lever on the bottom of the right side case that the reverse cable connects to, if you can get it in reverse that way it may be your cable, take the switch apart and see whats what
