Hey all, I've been wanting an aftermarket chassis 250r for years. I found what appears to be an aftermarket 250r chassis with a 450r motor. I'd be interested in buying the quad and putting a 250 back in it. The owner doesn't know anything about it. Can anyone tell me what frame this is? It has houser lt arms. Thanks! I have more pics If needed. Frank

I cant tell from the photos. You need to get pics with the plastic off and in the area in between the front shock mounts.
You sure its not a 450r specific chassis? You said "convert it back to a 250r" when it may not have started out as a 250r.
What I mean is, it could be a 250r geometry chassis built specifically for a 450r motor and all the parts. IE; brakes, shocks, rad ect.
Although that wasnt a 450r seat.... :ermm:

It looks to be a Laeger it does have a cr rear. Would be good to see the front. It was not originally a 450 chassis . That's what I got so far .haha

He checked, said there is a vin. No manufacturer name, just the code Ae 99 10 5104

Leager Xc 250 / 350 rx built in October 99 has the lowered frame rails. Only the 4 strokes form this era were built like this

Also not a crf motor. That's a trx motor

Thanks! Would it be poss to bolt a 250 back in this frame?

yeah - but the lower frame rails messes with the supsension travel. Consider limiting the travel of the rear shock to help keep the frame hitting the ground, probably about a .250" spacer under the bumper will do it. If your serious, i would send the frame back to Mark Laeger for repair. Call Jimmy at 502-348-4847 - he has soem connections with getting this done at a reasonable cost.

How do you tell that it's a 350rx frame based on the number?

Truth, if it's a 350x frame have a look at my "identity crisis" build.

It is possible, but it's a lot of work and depends on what the owner did to convert it from a 250x/350x to a trx450.

I'm not sure why KT23 is so concerned about the lower frame rail being 3/4 of an inch lower - nobody's hitting the ground any more than they would on a regular 250R frame. If you are that heavy and doing that big of jumps that the frame hits the ground, you need better shocks and a better setup.

Myself - I'll probably never get more than a couple feet off the ground so I'm not worried.

Thanks for the help guys, can anyone else provide any info? I'd really like to convert it back to a 250 if poss.

It was never a 250 it was a 350x or 250x frame. The frame rail is lower under the peg. I'm sure Mark changed the suspension to work with the frame change, compared to the 250. this is not a bad conversion I think it would be better left alone.. If you want a 250 keep looking.

I call laegers, emailed them pics and he wants a measurement of the pivot sleeve on the lower arm. He didn't seem to think its a 250/350x frame. I'll keep everyone posted!

I'm unsure if you called Laegers... or Mark Laeger.. but you will not get real answers unless you talk to Mark. Scott Taylor who owns laeger now would not be your best source of info.

How far away is this guy from you?

How much is he wanting for the quad?

Simple pictures will tell exactly what it is - all you need are better pictures.

If he is not that far from you, drive down and go look at it. If it's a good deal then buy it either way. It's going to be more work putting it back to a 250R than just buying a 250R frame, but if it's cheap then it could be ok.

Scott is the person I talked to. How would I get in contact with mark laeger? It's about 1 hour or so.. I think I'm interested either way, it's a good deal. I just really want a 250!! What pictures would I need to determine exactly which frame it is? Thanks guys!!

from what i see it appears that the front motor mount is welded to the frame, so you'd probably have to relocate the motor mounts to put a 2 stroke motor back in it. i'd look for one with a 250r motor in it already, if that's what you want.

Guys, I bought the quad. Im not sure what my plans are.. I will most likely sell the frame and motor and buy a 250 frame and motor, then use the rest of the quad to build a 250r. I will post up pics of it to see if you guys can help me determine what some of the parts are, the owner knew nothing about it.
