Been using shell rotella 15w-40 in the white bottle as has my friend. It lasts a good while, is good for a wet clutch system like the EX and hasnt given us any issues.

I use the same oil in both the trans and the engine on my 450r too.

Best of all 13 bucks/gal at wally world. The honda oils ok but not worth the cost.

I've been using the 10w40 4T oil you can get in the back of Walmart, by all the auto stuff in the motorcycle section.

It seems to be good oil. I think it's Pennzoil or Quacker state, not really sure. I stay away from the synthetic stuff cause it's not good on clutches. I change it after every 10 hours of trail riding. But if I were racing, I'd change it every race.

I've been wanting to check out the Royal Purple 4T. Anybody ever used that stuff?

Ive used plain royal purple in other stuff and wasnt too impressed. Oil is oil unless its some kinda insane engine like a ferrari or something.

Theone thing about the EX and bikes like it with a wet clutch is you gotta use an oil thats ok for it. You dont your in big trouble.

I have also used the mobil 15w-50 in the EX and liked it, but at 7/qt I wont buy it anymore.

EX likes heavy oil.

Yep, perfectly fine unless its dang near freezing out or less.

Like I said, EX likes heavier oils.

Add another vote for rotella 15w40, that's what I've been using ever since I realized GN4 was just overpriced wet clutch safe oil, nothing special about it. Thought about swapping to amsoil, but at $13/gal for rotella I can afford to change it every few hours depending on how hard I'm riding and not feel bad about fairly new looking oil going into the drain pan. It's my belief that fresh oil is better than expensive oil at 2-4x the change interval.

+1 More for Rotella 15w-40... I run it in my 400, LTR, CBR 600 and will put it in my CRF 450 when I change it. Great stuff.
