Ok maybe this has been asked somewhere I'm sure but I can't find it.. I am out of adjustment on my 400 and when I take a link out of the chain to shorten it the two ends do not come close enough to put the new master link in even after adjusting the slack adjuster all the way forward.. What am I missing here? I ended up putting a smaller front sprocket on my other quad to make it work but there must be an easier way right? Appreciate any help..

You really need to just get a new chain. If you are out of adjustment room. The chain has stretched that far and is ready for replacing. Taking a link out to shorten the chain is not very advisable..

Yeah Ill probably go that route.. But I did do that on my other 400 and still ran into the same problem.. Either too short or just too long.. Thanks for the reply..

Your just asking for trouble, its much cheaper to replace a chain than running a streched chain wearing out your sprockets and risking throwing the chain and cracking the case, etc.

It sounds like you need both sprockets and chain as they are all worn out.

Also the carrier will rotate quite a bit. try flipping it.
