Angle grinder with a cutting wheel comes to mind.

A tire groover would be best tho.

Have you ever seen a wire foam cutter? If you could make a small one it would work to slice rubber

I mean you could even heat up a knife with a torch lol

Ive done this before, havent used a foam cutter tho.

Go to harbour freight or a home depot, they have a reciprocating grinder, the flat blades and actually almost all the blades cut the rubber GREAT. "The vibrating grinder"

The angle grinder smokes to much and grabs jerks the grinder, the foam cutter i would think the heat would melt the rubber and gum everything up.

Yea i've used one of those flat blade tools. I dont remember what it's called exactly, it's pretty awesome. Craftsman and i think Skil makes them. Probably others by now. They aren't going to cut angle or replace a grinder but shear off nails pretty quick and clean. I'd imagine would be great on rubber.

Get a Knobby Knife. Those things are great. You can use them to sharpen the edges on the tires and cut the knobs just about any way you would like.
