So I can't seem to find USED elka suspension for the 400ex anymore so I was wanting to know if the trx450r elka stuff will mount up and work fine? I know that the front will but I can'te get a clear answer on the rear. I'm wanting to run long travel all the way around. I already have my long travel front shocks on the way and the long travel linkage but I can't find an elka rear shock for the 400ex and when I can't get a clear answer from elka about what it would take to make a trx450r rear shock work. I've found an elka rear shock off of a trx450r that's already been set up for long travel so I'm really hoping for good new from everyone on here.

450r shock will fit fine but its too short by about 3/4 of an inch if I recall. I ran a stock one on my EX for awhile and found it to soft.

Thanks for the reply. Even if it's an elka long travel from a trx450r going to an elka long travel 400ex? Just curious because one place I called said that it would cost about $550 to get it converted correctly (didn't give them an id number) and another place says just a revalve not even a respring?

Find an 06+ 450r swinger and run LT susp. designed for it.

I'd have the shock sent to someone anyway to insure it works they way it should.

I might try to do the 450r rear end conversion. Ella says the shafts and everything would have to be changed so if it can keep me from having to do all that it might be worth it. Plus it would be nice to have the 450r rear brake setup.
