timing question

Hey guys wanted to see if the cam chain from a 300ex will fit a 250x? Also do I time my 250x the same way as a 300ex I have a service manual for a 300ex.

Is this how to time?
Basically set both marks on cam even with head with lobes on the cam facing down while motor is at top dead center on compression stroke.

You are correct all the way around. 250x and 300ex same cam chain.

Also have a question about the clutch cover gasket I noticed the 250x has a extra peice towards the top is that needed? I think it has to do with the oil line running up to the valve cover

I need a clutch cover gasket and I know my local shop will most likely have the 300ex gasket but not sure they will have the 250x one in stock.

Yes, visually they are different. Not sure if the 300 gasket would work on a 250. Maybe someone will chime in that has tried it before

Anyone know if the 300ex clutch cover gasket can be used on the 250x?
