Hey Guys,

I am looking at the honda parts fiche and it shows the 99 style "fourtrax" seat and gives a part # of 77100-HN1-000ZB.

I am assuming that if i order this part #, i will not get the correct seat (cover)? Does anyone know? Will i get a black seat or some generic seat cover off other years?

My seat is in ok shape, but is only getting worse.....

Ive been considering the same option and i assume you will get the correct one for your year. The fiche picture is generic but i assume also that it includes the cover, the foam and the pan all as one assembly as it is shown in the fiche. Ive been watching ebay and craigslist to get an idea of what seat came with what year so i can get the one i want. Also try calling servicehonda or whomever you plan to order it from and ask them, they may have more info on the exact one you want. Let us know.

Every single EX seat till 08 (08+ is different) is the same except for the color of the seat.

Thats off a 99. My ex has the same seat and its a 2000. I think that style only lasted till 2001.

Nope, they changed the fonts and then they changed them from Fourtrax to Sportrax in 2004. Also, at some point they went from Fourtrax/Sportrax to Honda on the seat as well.

A red quad should have a red seat. The yellow ones had a black seat.

I don't recall a black seat on a red EX until the 2005 redesign of the plastic.

A 99 has a red seat that says Fourtrax.

Fronts what? All of the seat pans are the same, the covers are different of course tho.

But if you take the actual seat and put it on any 400 up until 08 it will fit.

Look at OEM parts diagrams on motosport or cheap cycle parts.com. My 400 is a 1999 but i got carbon fiber maiers on it. '99 was red only. So i got a bacl "sporttrax" one. (would have prefered the original "fourtrax" but just isn't offered. Anyway...switch through the years and the seat diagrams, in parentheses after the seat part# it says (fighting red) or (black). Match up what seat you want and order it. I believe i ended up with the 03 or 04 seat in black.

If you order off of a 1999 parts list no reason it should not be the original as it was that
Alot of the parts on the list are bolded in red or lined out as discontinued. If the seat isn't one of those, i'd say you are fine.
99% positive when you bring up the different years, the skematic shows exactly what seat it is. Whether it be the Fourtrax, Sportrax or Honda logos.

Ill just order it and find out... and let everyone know.

I talked to my dealer and they said i could return it.

To be continued!

That's how mine was when I bought it brand new with red plastic. They then changed to a black seat with white (or it could be silver, I can't remember) "Honda" on it on the '06s.

All the schematics have the generic picture of the seat with "fourtrax" on it.

And CJM, i believe OP was saying font of the lettering not front.

All the schematics i find say "type" for the seat color or "red or yellow" which i assume means the color of the bike it came on because ive never seen a yellow seat. I cannot find a listing for a choice of red or black. Does anyone know what "type" is what color? I believe my color tag on my frame under my seat might say but i think thats the frame and plastics color, im not near it so i cannot verify.

Not true. I just looked on cheap cycle a 99 seat has fourtrax. I believe was an 07 i brought up next, says "Honda". The one i got to match my carbins is sportrax, not sure what year that is, 03-04.

That one year is the only schematic that isnt fourtrax in the schematic. I was going on the 99-04 years having the same generic schematic and missed that CJM said that all the seats up to 07 are the same, except the word on the side odviously. Now i have to check out more to see which i want. And the generic schematic for the seat goes up to 06. i really wish they'd tell you what color was what and with what word. I cant decide between the red or black but def. want Honda.

So the 05-07 will fit the 99-04 models? Is the 05-07 seat thicker or more plush? I recall a buddies 06 that was real soft.

My '05 seat was pretty soft compared to my friends '04 that I rode a LONG time ago.

Got the seat and it is correct! Paid $65 for it!

I went through such a hassle to get a 250R seat.... the diagrams looked correct, but you ordered the seat (which was $300) and it just had a plain black cover with a warning label.

Figured i would get an oem new seat for $65 before they got discontinued or went to all black covers, then the price would skyrocket!

Thanks for all the help.
