I noticed that the front shocks on my quad make a hissing noise (like air is being pushed out or maybe sucked in) when compressed. It seems louder on the left side. Is this noise normal?

Thanks!

Shouldnt be making that noise, could be air leaking past a seal. Maybe its time for a shock rebuild?

Your also sure its the shocks and nothing else?

Thank you for the reply! I noticed that the rear shock is silent and the front makes this noise like air is being compressed. The shocks work ok as far as I can tell. It could be something else but what? I greased the lower shock bushings. Should the front shocks work completely silent as the rear shock?

yep, should be silent. Id say the seals might be bad letting some of the air out.

Give a suspension company a call and see what they say. Generally rebuilding a shock every 2-3 years for a rec rider is a good idea imho.

You're right, maybe it is time for a rebuild. Btw, are the trx fronts rebuildable or even serviceable?

if your going to get rebuilds, i would recommend buying a used pair of 450r front shocks and having those rebuilt. The 400ex stockers arent worth it.

For the next season, maybe I'll buy a pair of HLS essentials, it seems like the most cost effective solution. I heard only good things about them.
