I'm planning on building my 400ex this fall and winter to get ready for next years mx season. I'm looking for any suggestions/tips/tricks on what to do.

My plans already:
426 11/1 je piston
Hot rods crank and connecting rod
Stage 2 hot cam
Fmf power bomb
Big gun EVO r slip on
Amr stage 3 cdi
Gt thunder head studs and cam chain
Cometic gasket kit
Fcr39mm carb
Some scoops on the side and hood
....as far as motor goes.

I'm looking for suggestions on axles, a arms, and shocks. I don't have a ton of money cause I'm only 17 and get paid very little at my job:ermm: so I can't be buying the very top of the line stuff. Let me know what your ideas are. Thanks

If he already has the Big Gun then that's fine, otherwise I would also recommend the Motoworks. Also the HD studs are nice insurance even if you don't need them now. Scoops aren't really needed and an '04-'05 450R carb. would most likely be cheaper than the 39mm FCR carb. and provide the same results unless you are really concerned about throttle response. Also the CRF timing chain is the same thing as the GT Thunder chain and much cheaper, and make sure you get the Cometic MLS type gasket kit.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm putting the scoops on there just as assurance to keep air flowing down there. I also ride at the dunes a bit and want to keep it as cool as possible. Especially if I go with a 440 instead.

And are you suggesting the m7? And for what reason is it better? Just curious

O and I'm going with the fcr because I'm getting it from a guy I know for the same as the stock 450 carb

Do the gtt hd head studs. I did a 416 11:1 on mine and stripped out a the stud on the exhaust side of the jug. It only about $120 if you send it to gtt to install them.

The Motoworks pipe is about the cheapest and one of the best pipes out there for the 400.
