I was told to post in this section to get some better feedback. My current quad is a 400ex hybrid with a trx450r motor. After racing it a lot I found out how weak the steel is on the frame its got a few cracks.

So I will finish the season off with it repaired but I picked this frame up for next year. 87 R frame professionally modified to accept the trx450r motor. I had to buy it! I always felt most comfortable on my R so this will be a perfect swap over. Here's a pic when I first got it. Over the winder its getting Full Gusset kit +PC.

And experimenting with 450R swinger geometry.

This shows a 400ex length shock with 05 450R length swinger. 05 front linkage, 06 mx link.

Please don't take this the wrong way but is the 400ex better in anyway than a stock TRX450r chassis. I can understand 450r/250r hybrid but just kinda curious. I have a 400ex chassis and was going to sell it for a 450r chassis because it already had a rad mounts etc.

are those 250r rear plastics? if so how did you get them to line straight up with the front 400ex plastics?

looks awesome btw!

If I had to pick between the 400 or 450 frame I would just go with the 450, its already done and a bit stronger.

The 400ex frame is just very weak. If your going to use one fully gusset it and get a good suspension setup. And 450/400 frames both need lowered sub-frame modification and mx link imo to be optimal for mx.

Yea they are 400 ones were out of stock and I had a race coming up. I made em work. Cut a lot of the plastic away to get the seat to fit in the and sit ok.

Kit didn't come with the shock brace so I had to make my own.
