ok, Been thinking about getting 450r shocks, and I saw a picture on craigslist, was a 400 with 450r shocks on it, the front looks like it sets up pretty high... Don't know if he's running 22's or what....

Can a few of yall post pics of your bikes with 450r shocks, or yfz shocks? Really don't want my bikes front end to sit like that :scary:

for the proper ride height the 450r shocks need converted. then they are the shiz nitz, but if they arent they are high as a giraffe tail

Ill post pics when i get a chance but ill add my input for now. I have to say for me being on the lightweight side at 185 or so with gear on, im pretty impressed with them. I mostly trail ride and i havent got arm fatigue yet. But i beat myself up when i ride so i may just be used to it. They put the front end slightly higher, maybe 1-1.5 inches. They never bottom out in the trails and they dont bounce back when bottomed out like the stockers. My plan is to send them to GT Thunder or JET and get the conversion but i want to do the rear at the same time so its going to be a little while before that happens. I would get them if the price is right. Worst that can happen if you dont like them as is, you can re-sell them. I grinded the shock body, i dont believe that it will ever cause any problems. I also had to grind a little spot of the mount on the frame. Knocking the nut off the frame mount instead of grinding the shock body is an easy way as well, i just like the OEM hardware. Let us know what you do.

I loved my 450r shocks compared to stock but now i have the gt thunder conversion done and WOW they are absolutely awesome! now the front height is back to normal and they soak up corners so nice it doesn't feel like your gonna flip. Highly recommend them!!!!! ill get one with them on in the morn.

For the price the 450r shocks are one of the best upgrades you can do to a 400ex. They do sit a bit higher in the front than stock shocks. GT Thunder sells a spring kit for them that makes a huge difference. They will match the springs to your weight and the type of riding that you do. It you get the spring kit for the front, plan on getting the rear shock revalve, linkage and spring at the same time. I made the mistake of getting just the front springs at first and ended up getting the rear spring shortly after. I saving my pennies to get the linkage and revalve this winter. I'm also a light weight at about 155 pounds in full gear! If your heavier than me the rear might not be such an issue. Just buy them, you won't regret it

Those arent honda 450r shocks, honda shocks have the rezzies mounted behind the shock body not on the side.

I also have Honda 450R shocks on mine but I sent mine to GT Thunder to have them re-valved and re-sprung before putting them on. The ride hight is about 3/4" - 1" lower than stock with my set up.

It is a Warn RT15 winch. It works great and I use it alot as where we ride there is alot of mud. All the 4x4's we ride with also have winches but I am the only sport quad with one.

winchs dont belong on sport quads and im gonna take a wild guess and say mudlites are on the back, those dont belong either.

so what i have been know to go mudding sometimes with my 400 its a lot of fun. i am just saying u dont have to make condescending comments about what other people enjoy doing with there atv.

I have holeshot HD's all around.

I actually tried the mudlites once and I hated them.

The question is not about going mudding but some areas we go there is no way around some of the mud pits to get to the good trails to ride. I live in Eastern Pennsylvania and we only have areas in the woods to ride and there is alot of mud and rocks. In the summer it is not a problem but in the spring and fall it can get messy. Anyway the winch is light and I never have to ask for help, I just winch myself through if I get stuck and I am on my way. It is also nice if I am out with my wife on her 400ex and we dont have any other 4x4's with us, we never have to worry about getting stuck anywhere. That is also why I have the PVC tube on the front, it is full of tools and Tire repair kits. I am ready for anything.
