For anybody who has owned or built a YZ hybrid, which year was the best engine for these builds and why? Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

The 03 4-Speed engines were one of the out right fastest YZ engines since going to the 450s. We got nearly 7yrs out of the engine racing Mx and TT with no engine failures, and then sold the quad. The same quad is actually for sale now by the second owner in the hybrid classifieds. We ran std compression wiseco pistons and didn't change the stock cams and the engine was an absolute ripper. I do recommend upgrading the clutch to the GYTR kit.

Thanks for the reply. I remember salivating over your hybrid when you had it for sale and I did see that it was for sale again too. I have thought of building one out of a YFZ chassis and was wondering about that engine. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

My favorite yzf is the 06,and up because the oil tank is integrated in the cases, and it was extremely strong. I still have one forsale if your interested. It's all fresh.

Got it, thanks. It is a smokong deal, just trying to figure out whether I want to build this hybrid or just build a good engine for a YFZ.

I was starting that same conversion in a thread in here, (yfz frame) but I was really only doing it to sell it that way, and I want to focus on other things. I'll throw in the frame if you want.. haha. I could give you all the dims though its an easy conversion. All the holes line up.. catch is it needs to go about 3/4" to the left. But again being that everything is in line its about as simple as it gets.

I would certainly appreciate the help. I keep thinking about it. I will give you a call prob next week and we can get a bit more serious. Thanks again.
