Lt 500 problems

Been working on this project for couple months, anyway I just changed piston and rings etc and so far when it starts it runs great and fast. But it takes 20-30 kicks to start it even once it warms up. And its not lack of power on my part to kick it over. Also it is leaking oil from where the exhaust goes in engine, replaced spring but still leaks. Anyone have any thoughts on what's causing these problems?

as far as the hard starting, seeing as its a fresh top end, could be jetting or weak ignition. pull the spark plug out and see what color it is. and make sure idle is set right. also make sure you get a good full kick when starting, mine will not start if i dont get a good kick on it. for the leaky exhaust. id take the pipe off and the flange and use high temp silicone to seal it up.
