This project has been in the works for quite some time and I finally feel like I have something to show for it so here's my build thread. I've been methodically gathering parts and information since buying this rundown machine. I chose a 250R, not because I grew up on them, in fact they were around way before my time, I chose it to be different and stand out. My goal is to create an old school looking MX quad that has some of the newest components available. Here's the platform-

It was a decent starting point but needed some serious work. I did what I had to do to get some seat time on this thing and even being mostly stock I had a blast and really got hooked on the two stroke power. I put a clutch and a top end in it and had it running pretty good until I decided to take it out in about 15* weather. Made some rookie mistakes and ended up having to get towed back to the house. Here's the damage-

After that I decided to do complete teardown and do it right. Here's the teardown-

And the frame after sand blast-

I've been tempted to buy an aftermarket frame but for this build I want to use the stock frame and stock cylinder. It should help keep the costs down and it will be so much more gratifying to spank some new 450's with this old technology. With that being said I did spend alot of time removing unnecessary mounting tabs to reduce the weight and keep the center of gravity as low as possible. I gusseted some of the known weak spots with pumashine's gusset kit and added nerf bar mounts. Dropped it off at powdercoat and this is what they gave me back-

It's white with a metal flake. It turned out to be more of a pearl which I think is pretty cool. I'll post up more picture's soon.
Thanks for looking, Jake

I'm waiting for Six 5 Design to build A-arms and swingarm and those will be paired with Fox shocks.
