Thinking about gettin a Honda 450r to race motocross with. I was wondering if it's a good idea or is there other preferences like Yamaha 450r or can am , KTM , Suzuki? What's the bet race quad you can buy ?

if you're buying new or want something you can compete with, without having to do tons of upgrades, get the ltr or the yfz-r. If you plan to put new components on it to be competitive, the honda's can't be beat once they're built. just my opinion.

Honestly, if you are buying new and planning to race mx, get the ds450 mx.

For a thousand extra (over yfz450r), comes stock with some of the best shocks on the market. Fox floats on the front and a Podium in the back.

Also, the ltr has been discontinued for a while now.

"Entry level" racing quads are going for about as much as their stock counterparts lately.

Hey! I ride kawis haha.

Like I said, if you want to buy new, buy a can am. Can am is what many are switching to right now. I don't think they have too many problems and many companies are switching/supporting can ams right now.

Honda hasn't changed a single thing since 06 (except for graphics) on the trx and its best years were 04 and 05. Not bashing the honda, it's still an awesome ride, but newer and better things have come out since 06.

Personally, if I were buying a quad right now, I would weigh hondas and can ams fairly evenly and find what I like best out of the two.

Just a heads up on the can-am you have to have deep pockets to race one even if you keep it stock.

I race flat track with a kid whos got a can-am, over the past 2 years, he has had more problems with his ride then any of the other 15 atv racers all put together.
Just an idea...motor blew up, HUGE electrical problems with idling, starting, and reving up (all separate times)

It may be a fast ride, but what good is it if you are not a constant contender and have to take time off.
