I Have recently bought the 440 big bore kit for my 2005 Honda trx 400ex and installed it worked out great gave the quad alittle more power but wasent what i was wanting so a few weeks ago i bought a hotcam stage 2! and me and my dad installed it as well and you would not beleive the diffrents that Cam made! my little brother has an 07 trx 450r and one of my Buddys has an 04 Yfz450 and this old 400 of mine is running right there with them! and on the road if i take off befor the trx450 he cant catch my 400/440 and we did some time trails on our track we got built out in the pasture and it is running so close to the 450s time laps it aint funny! So pretty much this Post here is just telling about the 440 kit and hotcam :blah: so yeah geuss thats really bout it just tought i would post this.

so if you are wondering if the cam and big bore makes a diffrents it does! it costs a pretty penny but it makes the diffrents!

I Have the 440 and the stage 2 cam, I also have kibblewhite valves with a valve job to match "no porting" and a 450r carb.

I used that motor for drag racing and MX racing, It truely is a great motor combo with ALOT of options for different types of riding.

Make sure you jett it very large and youll pick up even more gains throughout the entire RPM range.

Stock and bolt on 450s cant touch my 440, when they go high compression with cam and carb they become a lil bit of competition, all I know is alot of high dollar 450 riders went home broke after seeing my 440 at the track....:blah:

FYI, your jetting will be different then mine but just for a reference on what I mean when I say large jetting for a 440.

Stock carb 210-215 main jet, 3rd notch on needle and a 42 pilot 3 turns out on the a/f screw.

450r carb, 220 main, 3rd notch, 50 pilot 3.5 turns out on a/f screw.

Now you need to get either an 04-05 450R carb or an FCR to let that engine breathe.

Don't buy Dyno jets or anything else, they are junk. Order your jets individually or a jet kit from Jets-R-Us.com (http://www.jetsrus.com/a_jet_kit_atv/honda_400_TRX400EX_1999-2008.htm)

"So you have a 440 and did no jetting changes yet?"

"yeah pretty much haha"

That isn't funny. Going to a 440 with no jetting changes is a good way to have a hole burnt through the top of your piston.

Unless you went from a 426 to a 440 then it wouldn't be as bad...

It won't take long at all. Going to a bigger size that much will make it run lean from the get go!

You risk frying the topend if you dont jet it.

Yeah if you want to keep having as much fun on that 440 as you are having right now you NEED to jet it. It won't last too long without blowing up if you don't. What size jets do you have in right now by the way?

You deff should have bought more jetts then just the 215, you should have bought several different sizes.

A good rule of thumb is to buy in incriments of 5, you actually should have bought from 180-215.

It would be a shame if you went through all that trouble and the 215 was to rich, it would have been better to buy extra jets and only pay shipping once.

You also need a bigger pilot jet, for a stock carb you need a 42 and a 450r carb you need a 50.

oh well. if worst comes to worst il just order a few more jets, to be honest im not all that deep in my quad, so just slowly upgrading it here and there. if the 215 jet dont work and is to rich il just order a size or to under it, and if it dont do right order a diff pilot also
