I was cleaning the carburetor on my 400ex and I noticed the screw on the side of the float bowl on the carb. It looks similar to the fuel screw except it has a tapered end to it. Can anyone tell me what this screw is for? Thanks

I think you are talking about the screw for draining the fuel bowl.

Thanks TheAwesomehonda, that makes sense. I just wasn't sure if it was supposed to be tightened to a certain point or not like the fuel screw. Thanks again.

Does fuel drain out of the bowl when you loosen it all the way up? If it doesn't it's a different screw. I know I have a hole on the bowl of my carb. that is tapped with threads and there is no screw in it, It's just a dead end hole. Idk what it's for but you may have the same kinda deal.

Stickman400, I'll have to check it out for sure. I am rebuilding my carburetor, so I had it off the quad already and drained before I found the screw. I'll take a better look at it, but from the looks of it, I'd say it's a drain screw since it has the tapered end to it.

If its the one right next to the idle adjustment, its for draining the fuel from the bowl using the little vent hose. I use it all the time to get gas from if need be.
