i resently finished restoring an 85 lt it startd rithg up rna great for days you can even see it on your tube look up "suzuki lt50 de restricted and restored.............it sat for too weeks i swapped the tank one day and ever since then when you switch it to prime and pull it a bit next thing you see is fuel coming out of the carb throught the breather andwhere the head pipe meets, the pipe had to be removed and dumped out there was somuch fuel in there.....................when it workd i would put it on prime and(this may be way i never noticed this) it started at most the 2nd pull so maybe it firing up quick saved me with that......
its hard to believe they would make it so that the prime just free flowed into the motor like that even if its just sitting..........

are you supposed to just turn it to prime for a few seconds then put bavk to on , chocke it and pull?

anyone know how these work and also i wsa thinking that when i had it working as sooon as it fires it would stop dumping fuel and be the vacum for the fuel system so did i just get lucky ?

i did just watch the hours of sanding and paint peel of the motor so luckys a stretch....PLEASE HELP

Prime flows fuel all the time.
Prime is used to fill the fuel bowl after a cleaning etc.
Fuel flowed past the float needle and filled the motor with fuel. this is common.

This is why I install a inline on/off valve and filter.
I shut the valve and let it run a few seconds. No more problems.

but theoretically it should not happen? or will it happen even with a perfect carb........
i was thinnking if i ran the prime line to the carb and blocked off the nipple on the head for the the primer line i could just run it like that, like most other bikes.
.......hopefullly my needle and seat are bad but i tried two of them,,,both were old though.......and also if i can just bypass the entire primer system atleast if the needle and seat go bad it will not put a gallon of gas in my motor and pipe lol
'thank you i appreciate t he help

Correct...Theoretically..LOL. It still will happen new needle seat or old.
The vaccum petcocks were a good idea but it's not a perfect world.
Get the on/off valve and run the petcock on prime.

Best thing to do is install a banshee petcock. It is a direct bolt in and will have a true on/off. Plus they are cheap on ebay all the time.
