coughing on cold start up

So my 400 has a weird coughing thing on a cold start up. Once you start it, it almost sounds like a dog sneezing. Usually does this about 4-5 times. after about 5mins of warming up, its fine. No popping or coughing.

My setup
-stock motor
-uni filter
-Motoworks Slipon
-jetting 42/158
-choke removed.
(im wondering if 158 is a little to rich...)


Any ideas why that might be?

158 may sound rich but with a filter and pipe a 158 may be about right. Pull your plug and see if it's black, if it is then put a 155 in. Also adjust your a/f screw to 2.5 turns out from seated and see if that helps.

Ive got a motoworks slip on and uni filter also and im running 42/152, idk your elevation though but if I had to guess you need to go down to a 155
