A friend of mine is re-doing his bike this winter and is at the point right now of making a head pipe for his 350x in a 250x frame. He was quoted almost $450 to have a headpipe made but, money is tight for him now and he decided to make one on his own. Now, just in case it doesn't work, does anybody know of company that makes headpipes for a 350x that doesn't want a crazy price for it?? When he told me he got a quote of $450 for just the headpipes, I was shocked and thought that there's gotta be a place alot cheaper than that!!! I mean, you can buy a whole exhaust for that price.

yout gotta understand if hes doing this somewhat custom project, hes gotta pay the price. making an exhaust that actually works right will be tough, and ide leave it to an engineer. so pay the 450 and be done with it.

on ebay you can find brand new DG and cobra exhausts, with the headpipe that end up selling for around $200. If not, im sure that you could contact a parts and salvage yard, and just buy the stock headpipe. I am running a full DG exhaust on my 350x in my 300ex frame. so it works, and they're out there. goodluck

Well, he already has LRD exhaust but is having trouble locating a headpipe for it. But, I will mention what ya said!! thanks for replies people. It seems to me, $450 for just the headpipe seems alot of $$$$.

if he wants to make his own pipe, then a stock 400ex pipe will bolt right up to the 350x head. He will have to add about 3" to it so it will fit around the frame rail, but it works really well. That is what I am running now on my conversion.

Burden7, that's what he ended up doing. He used my headpipes and it doesn't look to bad. Now, how does your's perform??? That was our next concern! Also, what did you do about the end of the headpipe, where its about 6inches away from the frame. Did you bend that in or what??? My friend ended up heating that area and bending it in. It has a little kink in it, but so what!!! It beats paying $450..right?

Me and my friend Dean, are currently redoing a 350x motor in a 250 chassis and we just bought a complete system for this application from powroll and it was $350 for the complete system. Headpipe and muffler it is all designed well, and looks even better. Hope that this helps.

Giz400ex, I made my own mid pipe from automotive exhaust to connect it to my E-series carbon fiber silencer. It performs very well with the 452cc big bore kit. Lots of low-end torque with topend to go with it. I have another exhaust made that is a little bit bigger in diameter that I might switch to for flattrack racing for more topend. This is the best close-up pic that I have of it.
