Quick question,

It all started after i washed my 400, turned over that night, the next day it won't turn over.

Pressing the start button, not even a click, at 1st i thought it was the brushes.

I bridged the solenoid, and nothing happened......

Lets assume the battery is good, i hooked a power thingy-ma-jig :D with a light on it, and it showed it my battery had juice... so

This means i have a bad solenoid, or battery? Right? Or bad connections?

My buddy has a bad solenoid, but his still tries to start. Probably a bad connection somewhere. Check the ground wire.

My 400 is 9 years old, never replaced solenoid. I shut my quad off on a dirt road one day for a break, turned the key and had no power at all. Ground wire snapped.

Check the connections on the switch, key, and the grounds. Also check the fuse, be its the fuse. it can get wet and go bad easy. 15amp located next to the solenoid.

None of that works, ground to battery and positive to the start itself, it spins you know the starters good.

my .02, that power thingy-ma-jig sounds like a test light and that will light with very little actual voltage. In another words, your battery could have 2.5 volts and light the thingy-ma-jig and not start the bike. First test the battery with a multimeter and verify that it has at least 12 volts. Check all your grounds. Then take apart the switch and make sure it is clean and dry. Electric contact cleaner works best.

I guess it was my battery......... Put it on the charger and back on the quad, she started right up. :)

if your battery went that junk over night that it wouldn't even click the battery is A. junk and B. gonna do it again.

if it doesn't do it again then you know it was a lose connection that you corrected when reinstalling the battery.

your probably right, i'll see what happens... May end up having to get another battery.... I did clean the terminals with a wire brush before i put it on the charger.
