Just wanted to see how many people buy new or used atv's. I usually buy used with very low hours, and in great shape. I have bought two new bikes but they were also a few years old as left overs.

Buying new is stupid. The thing depreciates like crazy. I buy used in good shape with everything I can.

I've bought 4 used quads and 2 used bike. Used is the way to go!

once i can afford it again, all of my stuff will be new.

the only thing i have bought new myself is my 400. the rest of my stuff is used right now.

no one elses problems and such to deal with when they are new. everything is clean and easier to maintain when I do the service on them myself from the beginning.

I bought mine brand new from the crate in Nov 2009 (it's a 2007) for $3999+fees, main reason I bought new. Also know everything that has been done to it since I'm the only owner.

bought my first 450 race quad used after builiding a race blaster from scratch. blew everything up on the 450 needed a new frame and rebuilt the shocks still came out of it for under 6K if you get a good enough deal on used everything can break and still come out cheaper then new.
so dont knock your gf up and have to sell a full race bike to me for 2500 bucks.

Best advice ever, A-men. :p

I buy everything used.. they depreciate in value so fast it isn't worth it to me.

used. of course if i had dough to piss away on new stuff i would, but especially in this economy i have no business spending money on new toys.

plus i usually go through it all anyways if it gets built or even just from maintenance. sometimes it all ends up with new parts or i freshin it all up

4 quads, 1 bike. all used

new would be cool. knowing your the only one to ever touch it. but man, no way i would pay what they want for quads, bikes or especially cars

new is the way to go you never know who or what rode it before you and it doesnt matter how good it looks there is always something wrong with it

if you have any common sense or mechanical knowledge you can tell the condition of the used ride.

I've bought everything used. I've never bought a truck with under 100K either, and I've never had any vehicles or fourwheelers that I regret buying. There were some "good deals" that I didn't buy, and that's because I saw the condition. It's not buying someone else's problems when you know what the problem is before hand.

I bought my EX for a song a long time ago for 1500. Back when it was only 3 years old, 450s were easily like 5-6k used and 400 class machines were easily 3k.

What was wrong with it? Stem was buggered and needed to be replaced, they cut the plastics horribly, and it needed front tires. Otherwise it came with an extended axle and shamrock beadlocks. For the money I couldnt go wrong.

Prepare for a stupid question :(

Now that the subject is up,

Why do factory guys sell the quads. Like all the pro quads I have seen seem to look good, (Ive never looked in real life, just pics) why do they sell them? And if I pay 8-10k for an ex-pro quad, will it be bagged out? New bearings they say, why do they put all new bearings in if they are gonna sell them right away? Whats the motor gonna be like?

Used stuff around here has all been buried in the swamp or something :/ and all goes for WAY too much.

if your gonna buy used make sure its a good deal and you have the extra cash to fix the unexpected problems. same goes for a pro quad. if you need something that fast buy an old one, ride it till it breaks and then replace parts just like we have to do every weekend

dont go out and spend every last penny you have on a bike because new or used things will break and things will have to be replaced. I always buy the cheapest and best platform i can knowing that if everything goes wrong it would still be cheaper then buying a new quad and then dumping 10k into it.

The only thing I have had new was my LTR. I bought it, correction, I got it as a birthday present because it was the first LTR in North Alabama. This was back in 2006/7. Can't really remember what year they officially released them. Anyway, I still have it and it still runs like a champ. All the quads I owned before that were used. Some had their problems but they were mostly cosmetic and easy to fix. You just need to know what to look for or have someone who does when you go test something out.

I've always bought used everything, you can get stuff that is in 98% new condition for 60-70% of the new price everywhere you look
