400ex cam bolts

Ok i heli coiled one of the valve cover bolts and when we were putting it back together i dropped one of the cam sprocket bolts and it went dow a hole and i coulnt get it out.:scary: So the stock size is 7x9.5 and i put in a 7x10 bolt. You could barely tell the diffrence and we made sure they did not rub on anything in the engine. Do you guys think they will be fine, me and my dad think they will be i rode it for a good bit today and it seemed fine. (we did loctite them). Thanks

Should be fine I guess. Was it the same type of hex bolt? I think them things are hardened steel b/c they are black.

It was a hex bolt and it was from lowes i think grade 8 (not sure). I guess we will see if it holds up. :D

I guess. Id rather use the right bolt for that kinda part. It comes off or something there goes your engine.

I agree i would rather have the right bolts in there. Ill probaly pull the valve cover off and put the right ones in as long as they last the weekend.

Wait so you dropped one of the cam sprocket bolts down the timing chain hole, never retrieved it, and still ran the engine? That's just asking for trouble. Take the clutch cover off, the lost bolt should be sitting on the bottom right when you take it off.

I dropped it in a hole in my garage floor. I'm not that dumb to ride it if I dropped one in the crank.

I should have clarified before it went in my garage not the engine.
