I found what looks like a really good deal on a 450r. He's asking 1200 obo. Says one of the a arms are bent but it's still rideable. Just worried there's some kind of engine damage for that price. Let me know if you think it's a good idea.<p>

I'm not a 450r expert, but I would check for a bent frame, too. Depending on how he bent the a-arm, the damage could have transferred to the frame as well.
Looking at the baldness of the front tires and the aftermarket rear tires I would bet that there are a quite few hours on this quad. Even if there isn't any specific motor damage, I would suspect that the motor may be in need freshening in the near future.

But, that just my humble opinion.

Check the frame, just behind the rear a-arm mount for any creasing that looks different from the other side. This area folds like a pancake if the a-arm take a direct hit. I would ask if the spindle has been replaced on that left side. The camber looks to be off. If it's been replaced, it's likely that he put an 06+ spindle on there. The 06+ spindles are easier to find, and cheaper than the 04/05 spindles. They changed the geometry of the front end between those years. I would also pull the oil filter to check for any shavings also. From the pictures, it looks like a good fix-er-up project for $1200.

If the motor and frame check out then its a great deal. I recently picked up a running 2005 for 500 but he broke a bolt off in the clutch hub and he said the clutch lever didnt have feel anymore. Turned out I had another hub so I threw that on and the part the pushes on the pressure plate had the bearing on the wrong side which led to no pressure in the lever. And he also said obo so offer him like a grand or so.

even in parts its worth 1200 to buy and part out and sell. if it comes with a title, its a plus.

The only thing is that he lives an hour and a half away from me. I'm 15 so my dad has to drive me and I don't want to go that far just to see a piece of crap
