Ok, so I broke my stock pivot bolt clean off my stock framed 89. It sheared at the end of the threads. What is the best replacement pivot bolt available, and where do you find it? Thanks.

Fourwerx carbon Ti bolt is probably the top of the list there.

its 90$ or something

titanium. that seems like a big upgrade as compared to mild steel, or stainless. Do you have experience with that bolt? I assume it is solid, rather than hollow like the OEM...

lighter less corrosion problems, stronger then the weak aftermarket cheapies.

i dont have one but couple guys on trx250r.net do and the facebook group for trx250r they got some. no complaints so far.

You could contact Mark Baldwin....he makes a Chromoly version as does LONESTAR.

+1 No problems here running the Baldwin piece after shearing the stocker off over 10 years ago

just an FYI the fourwerx Ti bolt does not come with the nut.

if you are shearing it off, you have issues w/ swingarm fitment, bearings or bushings.

also oxidation from poor grounding system will also cause weakening and seizing of pivot bolt,

if all grounds arnt good the path to ground changes to the easiest path to ground, and many times this will be the pivot,

keep all ground connections clean, and there will be less issues with your pivot bolt

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I'm running poly pivot bushings in place of bearing, sleeves, caps on a stock aluminum swingarm. I like poly because the setup is cheaper and simpler, is not as succeptable to corrosion, and doesn't let go all at once. One side effect of poly bushings is that the torque value of the pivot bolt nut is more sensitive. Over the years I've lost the nut from the pivot bolt a couple different times. Is chromoly or titanium going to offer any improvement? In either material a solid bolt should be far tougher than a hollow stocker.
