Random Question...Anyone ever had a hovercraft?

Very Random, I know. Passed one on a trailer the other day, never seen one, never ridden one. Got on craigslist, they are about $1500-3500 bucks for a later 80's Scat II. Seems basic enough principle, doesn't look like there is a ton to them, just kinda thought for $2000 be kinda cool to have one! Don't have a lot of places to ride one, don't really have a reason to have one, just kinda...you know...why not!?

Kinda what I was thinking, just fill the whole garage up with a random assortment of weird vehicles.

my dad had one when i was a kid... its pretty slow on land and it wears the rubber bottom out fast if you touch pavement. it went like hell on water but has no brakes lol thats why we don't have it anymore. I think he paid around 8500 back in the early 90's so 2 grand ain't so bad

Other than the added components for the air curtain, its not much different than an airboat. I had a 16 footer with a Continental ground power, 6 blade warp drive prop. Lots of fun, but can get pretty squirrelly if you don't know what you're doing LOL
