I left my bike at my friends house so he was bored and was messing with it and noticed I had a 13 tooth sprocket and this whole time I thought I had a 14 tooth. Will I notice a lil gain in top end if I change to a 14 tooth and what kind of gain will I be looking at?

You will gain about 3 - 5 mph top speed, depending on your tires.

It will make your chain last longer also....do you have any modds done to your bike? If so I would run a 14 to 15 on the front and a 37 to 39 on the back that is a good woods and big mx/cx track gearing. If you ride small tight tracks I would run 14 -39 gearing.

The mods I have done to it are Curtis sparks x6 exhaust, wiseco 11:1 standard bore, stage 2 hotcam, and 450r carb 400exshop. 416ish I have stock tires, what size tires would be better to gain speed?

22s would be the best for top speed and ground clearance for the trails. But if you ride MX or need acceleration you would have to get 20s or 21s.

You wont gain any real top end speed without alot of motor work.

At the drag strip with 16/39 gearing and 22 in tires I went 70mph in 4th gear at WOT.

If I didnt run out of track Im sure 5th would be atleast 80mph.

I was only geared to run 1/8th mile which is only 660ft.

But you need the motor work to pull that gearing.

i had 14/38 gearing but went down to a 13 for better bottom end in the woods

As has been said before, the larger the tire the taller the gearing. The higher the front sprocket, the taller the gearing. The taller the gearing the more power you need to pull that gearing.

An EX with the mods you listed will possibly be able to hit the lower to mid 70's on pavement with stock tires and stock gearing depending on the year 99-04 being geared the tallest and the 05+ with shorter gearing but about 2-3 mph slower top speed (high 60-low 70), again, numbers are on pavement.

If your EX is an 04+ then the internal gears are slightly taller and the front sprocket is 1 tooth smaller (14). If it doesn't have reverse then a 15 should be stock.

Regardless, the stock gearing with 20" tires is hard tough to beat.

With the mods in my signature and 15/36 gearing with my worn down 20" Razr 2s I can hit 65 topped out. That was with a gps on the handlebars. That's just for reference, not bragging or anything because I know that is slow compared to others on here.
