I'm going to ashtabula next month and was wondering what size tires you guys prefer. I usually just run 18s but I got a deal on some mini sprint tires that are 61 inch rollout. Roughly a 20 inch tire. I know you can buy 20s. I was wondering if anyone had experimented with larger tires on hard packed tt tracks. Thanks in advance.

I would stick to 18's. If you run Hoosier's the rears are 18.5. I don't see anyone run those tall tires for TT ever.

Those tires are also going to raise your ride height .5" too. Buy the correct tires and you won't regret it.

I paid 15$ for these in really good shape. Its worth that if I burn them off on the street. I've got a couple sets of sd 23s 18x8x10 brand new. I'm just trying to get a pretty decent selection before Ashtabula. I've never been there before but I'm sure I'll burn a set up.

If you run a taller tire you will probably go a lil faster cause it will make that motor pull a lil bit harder with a taller tire in the rear. biggest i would go in the rear for TT is a 20'' tall no more than that. Have seen folks run 22'' tall tires but they are HUGE.

If you are going to the Ashtabula National coming up here in 2 weeks best go ahead and bring you bout Two sets of tires cause that track will burn em up in a heart beat. If you run an AR. Bring a set of SD23 for practice and heat races and like a SD35 or SD44 for the main events cause when main events come around that track is gonna be like racing on concrete. And gonna need a harder compound tire to take that kinda heat.

See ya there man, Ill be down there.

Ill be on a Ktm yfz hybrid in the open b class. I have a set of ar sd23 18x8x10 and a set of sd33 or 35 that are 18x10x10. Both brand new with stickers on them. I come from a kart racing back ground so it's hard not to start pouring chemicals in the tire like we did with karts. Does anyone do that?

Yes, we use that stuff call track tac. I know a lot of people that run karts also use the track tac tire chemical.

Do you put it inside or on the outside of the tire?

Outside, and let it soak overnight then them thangs will be sticky next day and ready to rip.

I think I'm gonna go with something that will build bite in the tire and also condition the rubber so it won't blister up easily. There's some stuff called black sand that I think trac tac makes or there's some stuff called palmetto's perfection that you put inside the tire and roll it that always did pretty good for us in the karts. Black sand is not very aggressive and prob the route I am going to take. Thanks bud.
