I searched, but kept getting zero hits so hope someone can help me....

I took a Stage 6 R/T ignition system off the shelf in the garage and am trying to install in my daughter's quad. I'm confused about where I set the timing though. For my DRR 50cc quad with 39.2 mm stroke crank and an 80mm connecting rod it looks like they want me to set the timing at 126 thousandths or 3.2mm BTDC. That just doesn't seem right in my mind....wayyyyy off from where I set the PVL ignition systems I have run. I've read the instructions provided multiple times and I'm just not feeling good about it. The bike is pretty stock aside from some mild porting on the stock AC cylinder and a PCS pipe. Any idea where I set the timing?

Yep that's right.... Can even go a little more!

Wow! I was only doing 65 thousandths with PVL. Why such as big difference?

Stage 6 retards at a certain rpm...... That's why you can run so much timing

I set em up at 3.6mm btdc, or .142".
You need to ground the green wire on the cdi, then it retards the timing in the upper rpm range so it'll rev and not get detonation

Thanks for the info....sounds like you are using what they call the drag curve.

Correct the "drag race" wire.
