Need to vent my cvt cover and looking for some ideas. Was going to get out the ol hole saw and go to town but looking for some suggestions and pics. I will be using a cvt outerwear.

start drillin brotha. Remember, heat rises. Also don't go too crazy around the bearing....you wanna keep it strong there.
If you end up in a mud race, 200mph duct tape to cover your holes.

I have some 1 1/4" rubber plugs I was going to
use for it if it is wet. What size holes and generally what locations?

I don't know how well this works out for ATVs and the conditions you ride in (I'm a scooter guy), but venting around the clutch seems most effective for me.

This one started out as a really fast deal. Just drilling. Then I decided to keep it a bit cooler. Works great for me (again, on road scooter). I can grab the clutch bell after a ride. Pulley surfaces are still pretty warm.

Here's a mild one. No trouble in pouring rain for the scooter, but it also doesn't cool nearly as well.

I think you'd need a true scattershield to stop that. As you saw, the CVT cover, likely vented or not, just isn't up to the task of containing such a failure.
