I'm looking at a 02 400ex. The problem is the crank balance shaft is sticking out the side of the motor(busted case). My question is, Will all 400ex case's interchange?

99-04 will interchange. 05 and up have reverse so they are different.

I would look at the bike really well before you purchase it. That's just my $.02 though.

Yeah, I pasted it up. Just didn't know what all was damaged in the lower end of the motor. Didn't want to take a chance.

Yeah, I do not blame you there. Sounds like there's a chance it could have been a money pit.
