Kfx400 front shocks on a 400ex

Hello all,

Can kfx400 front shocks bolt up to a 400ex? I have a chance to score low hour shocks from my buddy for $80. I have used the search funtion and all, just looking for more info. If anyone has done this please let me know how it rides. I know trx450r or yfz450 shocks are better but this is a heck of a deal. These have the rezzies and all so its got to be an upgrade from the pogo sticks I have now. Oh and im 200lbs without gear. My quad has stock a arms.

Unless they are the kind with ressies then its not a step up at all.

Pretty sure you need to trim the upper shock eye to get them to fit as well.

Thanks cjm. Yes they are from an 06 with the ressies. I might just pick them up anyways. If they dont work I will flip them for a profit.

I had 450r front shocks on my Z400 and they improved the ride quite a bit.. (this was an 04 so the stockers were pogo sticks too) I'd imagine they'll probably be like 450r fronts. Whats the e2e length on 2nd gen shocks? for 80$ i say try it

I'm quite confident they are the same length eye to eye as the original shocks 16 3/4 I think.

Ya dude for $80 it's worth a shot, you could always ebay them for $80+shipping if it doesnt work out.

Yea im getting them in a week or two. My buddy just ordered used peps for his quad. When they come in we are going to swap them. Before I mount them I am going to measure the eye two eye of them vs my oem shocks. Anyone know how to measure the stroke? I dont want to bottom out the shocks or the a arm travel.

I picked up the shocks last nite. I hope to mount them next weekend. I will post picks.

yes, they will bolt right up. They don't even require any grinding like the 450 shocks sometimes do. It's a great improvement!

definitely. i'm almost positive the kfx400 shocks are longer though. I loaned a pair of stock 400ex shocks to my buddy who had a busted shock on his dvx400. When we put the 400ex shocks on it, the thing was sitting much lower.

His didn't have the gas shocks he just had pogo sticks, but they were longer than the stock 400 shocks no doubt.
