Alright my right front valve cover bolt is stripped. What are my options do i helicoil it or retap it or what. Also will i have to tear it down again? :(
Id tap it to 1/4 of an inch and see how that goes. 1/4" is very slightly larger than 6mm. That fails Id do 7mm. Gonna be tough to find a bolt that long btw, so a helicoil might be the ticket if thats the case.
Gonna hafta remove everything again.
This place has every nut, bolt and washer ever made.

I had the same thing happen to me, and eerily enough another memeber on here had the same issue, must be a weak spot in the aluminum when it's cast, or it has too much heat for the little bolt to handle. Anyway I had my local shop heli-coil it and it worked fine. You're gunna have to tear the top end down all the way the the cylinder to have it installed.

i have the same problem, same bolt. been riding it like that since I got it. no issues yet. no leaking oil, nothing. I will deal with it when it is time to rebuild.
