Finally got a chance to ride the new XC tire from Maxxis this weekend on my EX. I came off of the original Razr and always said I'd never have anything else. Well I was completely wrong. The new Razr XC is an amazing tire. My property that I ride is 300 acres of just about every terrain you can think of and the tire performed excellent in all of them. It cleaned out very quick, and gripped hard. Acceleration out of corners has less wheel spin then the originals. They slide very predictable. Overall I am extremely impressed with the new tire design. My only complaints are that they are expensive and are hard to get a hold of, but definitely my new tire of choice for my woods bikes.

Wonder if its worth just grooving a razr tire?

I first seen some in person on a bike setting beside me at a GNCC back in april. First thing that grabbed my attention was how tall the knobs actually were, and how big the spacing was in between em. To me they looked like they would almost give too much traction sort of like how Razr II/GBC Xrex's do where it can be hard to break traction and slide.

got any good pics of the tires on the bike?

Cjm- this tire is completely different from the original razr so I don't think that it would have the same performance.
400man- as far as breaking them loose, I ran 5 lbs of air in them and had absolutely no problem with getting them to spin. Pictures will be up on Tuesday probably.

My good ole buddy walker fowler told me when he gets more time on them he is switching to them.

But he also said the front tires are complete crap.

Hard to beat the pattern of the razr2 fronts.

I love the razr2 fronts, the outer lugs bite hard in the corners and the middle steer like front paddles.

Idk if it really helps all that much but Nick @ Jet said to flip your front tires (if you run razr 2 fronts) around backwords to where the outer lugs are are doing this - > instead of running them fwd and them doing this - <

you will get what i mean if you look at them.

not built yet, I can send you a pic of the parts and a bare frame if you want lol. I'm building a Z400 for a friend of mine. I absolutely hate it, if you never worked on one, do yourself a favor and keep it that way. But once that is done then the 250R will get started.

I flipped my gbc x rex's around like dxcody suggetsted & it made a big difference in cornering hard in the woods! Thanks for the tip cody!

Hey Guys,
Just wondering what size razr xc's you all are running on the back for gncc racing/harescrambles. I'm running 21" holeshot gncc's right now and would like to give the razr xc's a whirl.

They only come in 20x11x9 rear and 21x7x10 fronts.

Well, here is my 3 cents on the subject...

I really like the tires, but have not brought myself to buy a set for one reason.... the rears look short.

As far as how a rear tire performs, it really depends on more things than you think... like your quad's setup and also the width of the rear rim will make a difference as well.

Up front, it is same as the rear but more effect from how your quad is set up, and also rim offset and also what rear tire you couple with. A front will seem good and you couple it with a rear with a lot of bite and it will seem a lot different.

I've been around since the beginning though and everything we have is amazing compared to what we started out with in the 80's.

Today it is a lot about what you are used to and also how you ride.

A tire will seem great or sucky depending on what you are used to, how you ride and what you are comparing to.

Likewise, in a way it is hard for pros to give us good advice on tires. They ride so much harder and faster than us that they need different things out of a tire than we do.

I would expect that a lot of amateur and trail riders will like the Razr XC front while few pros will.

got me a set of these tires a couple weeks ago. The are alot different then "grooved" razr's. the knobs are a little bit taller than normal razr 1's, but the knobs are pretty flexible, and there more spacing in between em. And these things HOOK :blah: in pretty much anything, even in a thick grass field. I was practicing my dead engine start and it just hooks and the front end comes way up, even setting up close to the gas tank. I have a little bit of trouble getting em to slide enless I really lock up the brake hard and then pin it to the rev box and dump the clutch, and then its usually got the front end pulling up through the slide and riding on one tire in the back :eek2:

These are WAY better than the gbc Xrex tires I had, and they were like brand new too

well, its probably cause of all the side bite and it being a brand new tire. but they will slide if its really hard packed. but like trying to spin it around in the middle of a trail is kinda tricky cause it just dont wanna break loose for me. but i am geared kinda low at 14/40 so maybe the wheels aint spinning fast enough to break loose?

Ya you will get alot less spin on the 40. I had problems with my Razr2 not wanting to slide at all, took a blade an cut the side knobs that stuck out at a 45 degree angle.....now they slide alot better but still have that great hook up.

Sitting in my parents garage, plans and life changes my friend. Excavating isn't very good right now so I don't want to spend money I may need going into winter. Depending on how snow is this year is how much I'll be able to do in the spring.

As for the sliding problem, I have no problems at all getting them to slide around any corner.
