need help with pvl

i have a drr 90 ,, ok so after 15 kicks i get one backfire then nothing ! has good spark .. the marks are line up with the piston tdc .. could a wrong plug do that ??

check to make sure you have it on the right timing mark on mine there are two 180 degrees from each other i think the correct one is the top mark but not 100% and cant look right now...

no there only one mark at the 5 o'clock .. what plug you running ?

I had mine do the same thing when I first got the penton pvl. With my dial indicator I would get the piston to top dead center and turn my guage to 0 then I rotated it clockwise thinking that was advanced. I got mad took it back off, put it back on, 2-3 times of course this was in the middle of the night. Then I talked to penton and they got me straitened out. I needed to go counter clockwise from topdead center. I run mine at 1.5 mm before top dead center. Stock they say should be around 1.8mm. I tried the 1.8mm first and the motor got really hot. then went to 1.6 then 1.45. 1.5 seems to be the best for my sons quad.

Ok thanks ,, set it like you said it stop the back firing but still wont start .. iam getting ok spark but is it enough ?? It a older system that i have for about 7 years .. penton dont have that part number so i cant test it .. can u test the output on the coil ?
