Check the valve adjustment again.

When you adjust them they must be loose and have play. Set it to the T mark on the flywheel again and grab the rockers-they should be loose. not loose turn the flywheel again to the t mark and try again.

If they were really tight before they wouldnt have ticked as bad.

Your timing chain, tensioner or guides could be bad. Total possibility.

I always recommend if your doing a topend to do that while you got it apart.

Yea, something is not right at all. Thats way way too loud.

First off tho your idle is WAY too high, turn it down.

Second, double check you adjusted them right, intake .004 and exhaust .005 inches. Make sure you had the t mark on the flywheel right. You turn the bolt counter clockwise only.

I have never heard such bad sounding valves before. Either they arent adjusted right or something is seriously messed up either int he timing chain, guides or tensioner.

Seems to me tho that you didnt adjust them right. get some inch feeler gauges and make sure you use the specs I outlined. If anything they sound too loose.

That sounds like what mine sounded like. I believe the decompressor was opening your right exhaust valve when you adjusted them. I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else but it did to me. Turn the motor over a few times fast with the flywheel, then check your right exhaust valve it will probably all loose.

the reason my idle was hi i was giving it a lil juice and for the decompression getting hung up i had a problem with it when i put it together but i thought it was fixed i will check that i checked my tensioner and that works fine and for the chain it was tighter then a virgin on prom night and the guides had lil wear on them i dunno i will do the valves again
