ok i am really getting pissed i rebuilt my 400 with out a hitch valves and new top end like a 407 with wiesco piston and rings had valves done buy local shop adjusted valves broke in rode the **** out of it in buffalo and the ticking keeps getting louder the timming chain and guides were good no wear on guides and chain was tighter then a virgin on prom night i dunno what it is please help me please it drives me bannanas

They all tick, relax its perfectly normal.

You checked the tensioner right?

I would do so then.

Remove the screw in the middle of the tensioner. Take a small flathead and turn the tensioner. Remove the screwdriver and the tensioner should spring back with a bit of force. If not its bad.

When u say force you mean force like u can hear it spring back cause if so I need a new one and one will be ordered ASAP

Did you get new stock size or bigger valves,?

I have something I want you to check that may solve your ticking issue also.

Take your front plastic off and try to Loosen the nut almost completely off of the top motor mount, then knock the bolt a lil so that either side of it doesnt touch the frame.

Start the ATV and see if it still ticks?

I only suggest it because me and some other members just had this conversation in another thread.

I never really bothered checking for how it sounds, but that sucker should spring back with force. IE you should release the screwdriver and that sucker will roll up like a tape measure only faster.

Personally its only 60 bucks, buy a new one if in doubt.
