Usually Im not a drag racer but my buddy and I were talking last night and he thought my 450 only does 45 or 50...I think he thinks all quads are slow or somthing..He told me he thinks his baja bug would spank me in a mile. I know I'd blow his **** apart in like 300 feet but what about say a mile? I know his bug will do 75...I have an HRC'd 2006 450er what do you guys think my top speed is? Stock gearing on 20's..Im about 155

In a mile long race is would be all about your gearing. I think stock is around 65 but you could easily gear your quad to go over 75. search google for a speed calculator and it'll tell you a rough estimate of your speed if you enter gearing, tire size, rpm..

actual listed top speed for stock gearing power and tires is in the low 80s...

4 or 5 years ago Dirt Wheels did a test between the trx and yfz. I do believe it was also a mile long and the used gps and a radar gun to confirm the speed. They played with gearing and tire size and the speeds ranged from like 65-73 mph on both quads.

Either way man I'm sure you could take it down Only thing I can think of is he has some larger than stock tires which might help him out..But his old 69 1500 motor isnt exactly new haha..Any VW guys out there..I'm helping him put a 1641 in it once he gets it goin :D

Larger tires on the front? Old bugs are RWD, so that won't help at all.

nope larger on the rear..No major motor work on the one he has in there..Now just gotta find time to race
