I have a 2004, and the intake boot between my air box and carburetor is seeming not long enough.. its really just a hassle and I was curious if any of you had any ideas or how to to extend it .. thanks!

A 2in rubber pipe grommet from home depot or lowes might solve your problem.

They can be used for custom intakes and 450r carb conversions.

Is the air box and carburetor stock? Also is the intake boot really hard and bridle?

All intake is stock besides k&n and outerwears. So, will a 2 in grommet to extend the boot intake from carb to air filter box?

Also, no both intakes are healthy

Im confused here: If everything is stock it should fit fine and not be too short. Something is not stock or somethings a miss b/c it should all fit together fine.

Provide a picture and we can all help you better.

Nothing is after market besides the bored cylinder and staged cam.. its just always fit barely around the flange of my carbuetor bro.. any other advice? I measured the diameter of the boot and its 2 1/4 " so ill just buy a grommet that size or something close, unless further objections..

No 400ex I have ever seen has had a problem with the length of the airbox boot unless your running an aftermarket carb.

Thats why I asked for a picture.

Unbolt your airbox,

put the boot on the way its suppose to fit, tighten it down, then bolt your airbox back up.

I have had to do it before, they are kinda a pain.

Its for carb to airbox, it should fit fine over the carb, then youll have to squeeze the airbox boot a lil to get it to fit in the grommet, it comes with hose clamps and all, it only cost $5.

You can cut it to size if you want or even leave it alone.
