well as the title states i have a problem... I just finished a rebuild (2mm over). So i got it running and had real bad valve tap. No biggie just do valve adjusment. Set intake to .10 and did exhaust to .12 and tried to start, NOTHING. So I recheck the valves and the one exhaust valve (when sitting on the bike its the right one) had no movement, couldnt fit the feeler gauge under it at all. So i loosen the screw and set it again to .12. It fires and runs but ticks like a monster, shut down and recheck and now the gap is about .60 WTF???? Set back to .12 and again it wont fire. Im so confused.

You should post this in the 400ex section, you may get a quicker response.

Was the piston at top dead center when you adjusted the valves?

rotate the crank until the T and dash line up exactly, if you go past the marks DO NOT try cheat and back it up a bit.

got it figured out guys thanks. Ended up pulling valve cover and noticed timing was off. Set timing and then i noticed the pin and spring for decompression was missing so i bought those and she fired right up. Few more odds and ends and ill be out on the trails
