I tried to take my front sprocket off yesturday to put a 15t on. But I could not get the 14t sprocket off. Should I just pull really hard, or do I have to take the chain off? And yes I did take the two bolts out.

So your putting the stock size back on?

You have to loosen the chain up quite a bit. Then there is also a little thing in front of the sprocket. Its kind of like a washer. It has grooves in it, so it will only come off one way. Once you get that off, then just pull the sprocket off. I have an '02 and it took a couple of minutes to get it loose. I had to wiggle it back and forth a lot to get it to come off.

There is also a little washer-type thing with teeth on the inside of it, did you remove that as well? Once you remove the 2 bolts, you have to turn that washer thing a couple of degrees either direction so that the teeth on it line up with the splines on the shaft, then you remove it.
Did you also loosen the 4 allen bolts on the back of the swing arm? You have to loosen them, then move the carrier forward to loosen the chain (I use channel locks to rotate the carrier forward). THEN you have to slowly work the sprocket & chain off of the shaft together, then you can pull the sprocket off of the chain.

Ok thanks for the info guys. Well thats what I am debating. I like the 14t and all, but it seems like I wind out to soon in each gear. So should I maybe keep the 14t and get a 37t rear?

If you run 18" rear tires, a 15/36 combo works great for MX.

Well right now I am running 20", but I may be switching over to 18" sometime soon. So would a 15/36 be all right, or should I stick with a 15/39.

If you go to 18", you won't be happy with the 39, but if you have the 20" on there, I would say the 39 would probably work OK for you.

Ok, well maybe I will just order a 36t for when I use the 18's then a 39t for when I am runnin 20's.

Ok now I cannot decide the 36t or the 39t, because wont the 39t slow me down a little bit. Since I will be use 20's for a little while.
