i have never used one but from the link they look pretty sweet. that mount off the receiver is a very good mounting point so it shouldn't be week.

Youll need some air bag helpers

Interesting. Maybe a piece of plywood would do the same thing but with out the ramp feature.
Lay a sheet of plywood in the bed leaving just enough sticking out for the rear tires to sit on and the rest up under the front quad.

Guy around here used to use a sheet of 3/4 plywood to put two quads in the rear of his 8ft bed. Wood stuck out about a foot past the tail gate and the rear tires on the ply wood. I wouldn't do it with a 6 foot bed and plywood though.

For the price you could build or buy a really nice trailer. The design of that thing puts all the stress on the very back of the vehicle and helper springs or airbags will be needed or you will get some serious sag.

unless your truck is lifted, that thing is hitting the ground every bump you go over.

I really don't see the point in buying one, I can see if you could use the piggy back and still pull another trailer that it would be good, but when they cost as much as a small trailer, don't allow you to use a trailer, and can potentially damage your truck, then why would you want one? Especially with a small trailer you can put a quad in your truck and two more on a good sized trailer.

A couple of huge advantages are fuel mileage and the evil toll booths. My last dune trip I used just under $1000 in fuel getting 18.6 MPG with both machines on the back of the avalanche. Had I pulled a trialer mileage would have been around 13MPG which translates into $1352. We saved $350 on one trip.
When I go to PA from WI it was amazing how they crucified us at the toll booths. I paid an extra $30 each way just because I had 1 quad on a trailer.
Now if you haul more than 2 machines, dont go on long trips or a lot of short ones it wouldnt be worth it but my quad/bike reciever setup has paid for itself in the first year.
I will for sure be converting it to a dual quad one just like this for our summer group ride.

I think I will also raise the rear up 6" where the ramp folds so it doesnt bottom out in the low driveways.

The thing nice about this is when you are just going 20 mins away you dont have to deal with a trailer.

it looks like it puts alot of stress on the tailgate and that long bar to the reciever probably flexes alot. For the price of it, i would buy a small landscape trailer.

Before my brother took his lift gate off it served the same purpose. Of course he's running a 2500 so the weight wan't an issue, funny when he sold the lift gate he talked about making a plywood extension.

Well I don't know about the piggyback, I use the Diamondback atv covers on my 250. Like you said the tolls will kill you. I live on Long Island and before I got off the island it's either $13.00 or $9.00 and thats just one toll with no trailer.
