smoke when i let off throtel HELP!!

whn i am riding when ever i let off the throtel it smokes. My motor is all stock except a full fmf exhaust. What should i do?

Well, it could be bad rings. Is the smoke a blue/whitish color? Thats rings.

If the smoke is a darker black your too rich.

Did you ever rejet for your exhaust?

im not saying its not your rings, but i doubt it. a 2006 is a fairly new quad. i would do more research before crackin the engine open.

2006 or not, you have no idea the hours, who has ridden it, what they did to it or whatnot.

If it smokes and its blue its rings/bore, if its black its too rich. If no smoke then your good and thats what it should be normally.

Agree with that man, my friends 2005 has been in the shop for a month gettin new rings, piston, overbore, and new intake valve, it's only an 05 and he hasn't really treated it too bad. But I can tell the last guy had his fair share of fun on it.

Need more info here my man. Like what a few people have said.... What color smoke? If its blue/white than like said before, it's your rings and your burning oil.

As far as just slapping new rings in and rockin it that way, I wouldn't suggest it. Your cylinder wall to ring clearance is to much, which is why oil is passing through and burning.

You have to tear the top end of the motor apart to get to the rings, so why not make it a....416? I went with JE for my piston when I built mine and have no complaints. I don't remember what compression I did(sorry it was 10 years ago....) but it was safe with pump gas.

New piston/rings, have the cylinder bored and matched for that piston and start putting her back together. And if your doing that... Why not a cam as well?? Do a little higher compression and run a stg. 2 hot cam.... It'll make for a whole new quad

If you do decide to rip it apart and do rings with a stock bore, please hone it at least :rolleyes: Seen a lot of guys with their lawnmowers and stuff do rings and then wonder why it still burns oil and runs like crap because they thought you could just put it all back together and be fine. Heck'm that there gaouge in the side of the cylinder there wont be hurtin nuthin I'd say cad dang it!! Don't be like that lol :devil:

And be sure to, HAVE YOUR BORE CHECKED! If your just going to hone.

We replaced the rings on my buddies quad, had the cylinder honed and i guess it was out of round because after we put it back together it smoked like a mosquito (SP?) truck.

Get with c&d racing. They have great prices. I'd be willing to bet you could do a 416 for under $400.

Cam $125 (on ebay)
Bore job from whomever $50-100.
Cometic brand MLS viton steel gaskets $35
Assemble it yourself (its EZ) FREE

Its not that expensive, course paying someone to do it can add up.
