Pros - enough power to buck you off in a millisecond....

Cons - enough power to buck you off in a millisecond....

All depends on your riding preference, but the front comes up real easy, and they always feel like they're gonna roll.....

Just my opinion....

stay away from the 2001 model Raptors -- bad tranny
The raptor has plenty of power and if you have some riding skill, you will learn how to take corners and realize that the raptor isnt as tippy as most assumer, not know. Coming off of any other machine, especially the 400ex, will make the Raptor seem very unstable, but it is more of a matter of learning how to harness the power and use some body language with throttle control to kee it upright. I myself own a 2002 Raptor and have no regrest while i am breezing by my friends with 400exs and other quads, and even most dirtbikes. I have only good things to say about the Raptor and pretty much any quad out there.

Big Pro = REVERSE!!

buy the newest one that way some of the old problems would be fixed, but i wouldn't buy a raptor IMHO

Since I owned a Raptor I can speak from experience.

I loved the low-end power. You didn't have to rev the piss outta it to make awesome power. As far as the suspension goes, you're most likely going to buy an axle and shocks for any bike so what's that matter? What I hated: the weight. You can't get rid of it and it becomes apparent after a full afternoon of riding it. Stay away from the 2001's. The tranny's are a mess (dogs breaking off and 1-2 gear spacing is horrible). Would I be afraid to own a 2002+ Raptor? No. Would I run out and buy one given the choices that are out there right now? No.
