Should I sell my ex for Z400? Anyone have any problems with them? How much do they cost, and how fast are they?

LMAO!:D

I would get a 400ex over a z400. Stay with honda, you wont regret it. They are not that much quicker than a 400ex. My friend just has a pipe on his, no jets, and he beat a stock z in a drag by like 4 quadlengths. GO WITH A 400EX!

Get the Z400, they mod better when you start getting into the exhaust and stuff. I would only take a 400EX if I found a really good price on a new one (I dont buy used), even then it would still be a hard decision. Honda reliability just doesnt do it for me anymore when there are better things out.

I've heard good things about the Z400, and with a nearly identical chassis as the 400EX it should handle pretty well. And unless you are a hard-core racer, the reverse gear comes in pretty handy.

Does this make me a traitor?:(

Why are you saying the Ex will outlast the z anyday? 1st hand experience?. The z motor has been proven in the market for a long time. Dont get mad at other manufactures because they went to the next level..As for a 400ex with just a pipe beating the z..i highly douhbt it unless the guy on the z cant ride..I have a z with a yoshi slip-on 13/41 gear and will blow that 400ex off the line to the finish....Its all who has more $$$$ that can get the fastest quad built..as for stock to stock..the z wins everytime..sorry

ride a Z400, see if you like it better than the 400ex. then make your decision.

It is a little bit faster, and you are right a 400 with just a pipe wont blow it away, The z400 might have a little more top end grunt, but its not power like the 400ex has. every turn on a mx track I can pull away from the z400, they just dont have the power coming out of the turns. and they only have like 3hp more than a stock 400ex overall. its really not that big of a difference. And another thing is were not in here to fight over whats faster. It all matters what your looking for. the 400ex has been proven for 5 years now, the z400 is fairly new. If you are going to be doing alot of trail riding you might want the z400 for the benifit of the reverse gear. Sure the z400 has a little bit more, it was designed 5 years after the 400ex. and basicly copied the 400ex chassis design, egronomics and such and they just put a little higher technology motor in it. Its all really personal preference tho. ride them both and see what fits your needs better. I have had my 400ex for almost 4 years now, and I wouldnt get rid of it for anything. The real benifit of a 400ex right now is they sell for $2600 used now. so if you can save $2500 of the showroom price well thats $2500 you have to modify it and customize it to your riding style. with $2500 if you wanted to make it faster than a z400 it would be no problem, that would also get some nice shocks and a-arms.. well you get the idea. lets just not let this turn into a big flame on suzuki or honda. I am personally happy to see our sport growing with all these new sport quads coming out. gives buyers a greater choice to fit their needs as well

The piped 400ex did beat the stock z by about 3 or 4 quadlengths in the race. All the ex has is a wb e series with no spark arrestor and a sparks air filter. They race 3 times and the ex won by the same margin on each of the races. The kid on the z has been riding for a few years now and knows how to ride. It is a proven fact in my book. The magazines just blew up the z just like they did to the raptor when it first came out and the same as they did to the 400ex when it first came out. Not that big a difference between em.

The z motor has been proven, but its chassis has not passed the test of time yet, but it probably will. Not sayin its a bad machine, I just like my ex better. I had the option to go either way when i bought mine but i went with honda because i got mine when the z first cam out and I was unsure about it and didnt want to take a risk.

All in all, I vote HONDA!!:macho
