I have been pondering trying e85. I have read about people converting over for cheaper than racegas and cooler running. I am curious as to what everyone has for jetting with their set up? Please be decriptive. List pilot size , needle size and position, and mainjet and a lil bit of your mods. Just so i get an idea of what everyone is runnig before i start.

I don't remember who but I'm pretty sure somebody said they had to drill their own jets.

According to wheelie you have to run a really big main jet and a better needle in your carb.

I THINK!

I read a thread on it. Ill try an find it.

I do have to drill my own main jet, but the engine is well built--most don't have the fuel needs my machine does. Jetting is in sig, contemplating going with a 65-68 pilot and re-installing my 245 main so I can run a higher Ethanol ratio.

Pick a seasonal blend you want to tune for. I recommend Spring/Fall blend and adding a touch of gasoline in the summer to minimize jetting change requirements throughout the year.

I didn't use any 'alcohol' specific components in the fuel system, I simply rejetted it and ran it.

How bad does it really do on gas?

Like say for an XC racer, if you do a 2 hour race, would i have to stop 2 times or just once?

Im decently fast (not trying to brag at all) so i am just curious.

Like right now i dont have to stop at all. I can actually run between 4-6 hours on 1 tank. Depending on how hard i ride that day.

Riding hard at the dunes I can burn through a tank of fuel in 2-2 1/2 hours. Track or woods, 3-3.5 hours depending on how hard I'm pushing it.

Ok that doesnt really sound that bad at all.

Im really considering running a E85 now after the success you have had with it.

It's a great fuel. Smells good at the pump, great exhaust smell, and burns very clean--no carbon to speak of in the combustion chamber.

The cooler running is great for the air cooled EX. More horsepower and torque are just the icing on the cake. Expect 5-12% more power from just the fuel swap/carb tuning alone.

So with my new setup, i should be a powerhouse with E85?

12:1 JE 440! lol

and of course a stage 2 hotcam.

BTW if i send you some jets could you customize them for me? Like if i cant find one big enough?

REALLY SORRY OP, not trying to steal your thread!

12:1 w/E-85 will be a great combination. Keihin makes up to a 230 main, which, depending on what carburetor your running, should be more than big enough for your setup.

Couldn't you increase the air jet and then drop back down to a more popular m ain jet?
