‎3rd gear is done for on my 400ex
if i eas into 3rd ill hear it grind so as of now i dont know if i really want another honda if this is the kinda **** that happens to them cause i have now where near beat tht thing and its only a year old

Maybe its just the 05+ bottomends? Never heard any complaints about the 99 to 04s.

i ride my 05 daily. same motor and clutch simce day 1, and i ride hard. youve gotta be doin somethin wrong

Yea I beat my 05 preeeetttyyy hard and it just takes it like a champ, from what I've heard I'd recommend fixing it as you must have gotten a lemon

On the other hand, Marshall Goings rides the same 400ex and he puts some serious wear and tear on them and has never had a tranny problem that im aware of.

im not the only one tho ive heard of a few others who had this im not sure if its justsome bad models got out or what but all i got to say is honda hasnt been very lucky to me

you know where near beat it? you race mx with the dang thing, you gotta expect to have repairs weather a honda or any other quad

I think it comes from not properly shifting into gear. These things are super forgiving unless you JAM it into gear.

IE sometimes I miss 2nd gear and go into neutral and short shift. Instead of slamming it I let off the gas and shift with the clutch. I otherwise only use the clutch to shift into 1st or neutral, I shift otherwise without one.

If he says he was easy on it, who are we to say he wasnt?

Racing MX should not cause you to drop 3rd gear.

Esp when i ride (and break everything possible) hard as hell and never had a tranny problem.

ive watched his utube videos, he races alot and alot of mx racers have tranny problems mx or any race for that matter is hard on a quad. just my .02 cents it prolley wouldent be hard to fix

now the question is shold i get a whole new big bore motor like a 416 or 426 with out reverse or just a new bottom end

Idk i mean i wasnt telling anyone they were wrong or trying to start stuff it was just my .02 cents too haha.

I would just get it fixed, but its not my quad.
